Takedown
A coordinated law-enforcement action that seizes a service's servers, domain, or infrastructure — usually ending with a seizure banner and a press release. The opposite ending is an exit scam, where operators vanish on their own.
Documented examples: AlphaBay and Hansa in Operation Bayonet (2017), Hydra (2022), and Archetyp in Operation Deep Sentinel (2025). A missing banner after a disappearance is the classic warning sign that no takedown occurred. See the takedown timeline.
